Communications Technology Program Goals and Objectives

To pioneer innovative, customer focused space communications concepts and technologies to enable advanced NASA missions and ensure U.S. competitiveness and preeminence in space communications.

Execute the ACTS Experiments Program as the centerpiece of the Nation's advanced communications development activities.
- Ensure strong participation by U.S. industry
- Transfer ACTS technologies to U.S. industry
Expand capability and reduce costs through technology advancements that increase U.S. competitiveness in communications and spacecraft performance in the ares of:
- Near Earth Communications
- Deep Space communications
- Mobile communications
- Fixed/broadband communications

Communications Technology Program Information

Space Electronics Division (SED) at LeRC.
Communications Systems and Research Section at JPL.
The Advanced Communications Technology Satellite (ACTS).
- The ACTS Mobile Terminal (AMT) at JPL.
- ACTS Propagation Campaign at JPL.
The Communications Technology Program includes two CCDS's.
- The Center for Satellite and Hybrid Communication Networks at the College Park Campus of the University of Maryland.
- The Space Communications Technology Center at Florida Atlantic University.
