Telerobotics Program Plan

2.3 Program Schedule

The following pages illustrate the schedule for the Telerobotics Program in terms of Level 1 and Level 2 milestones.

Level 1 milestones are those events of significant programmatic importance to warrant visibility to OAST upper management (up to the OAST Associate Administrator). These milestones are typically visible to, and tracked by, the Telerobotics Program Manager. These milestones are negotiated between the field centers and the Telerobotics Program Manager, and are used by both the Telerobotics Program and the Spacecraft Systems Division to chart the progress of the task and to evaluate the performance of the field centers. Changes to the projected completion date and content of the Level 1 milestones must be reported immediately to the Telerobotics Program Manager, and must be agreed to by the Telerobotics Program Manager and reported to the Director of the Spacecraft Systems Division.

Level 2 milestones are those incidents of technical or programmatic significance which have been identified by the field centers as important deliverables or progress points (in such documents as the annual RTOP submissions, project proposals, or programmatic summaries). These milestones are typically visible to, and tracked by, the Telerobotics Program Manger. These milestones are negotiated with the Telerobotics Program Manager, and are used by the Telerobotics Program Manger to chart the progress of the project and to evaluate the performance of the field center teams. Changes to the projected completion date and content of the Level 2 milestones must be reported to the Telerobotics Program Manager, and must be agreed to by the Telerobotics Program Manager. In short, Level 2 milestones are those events which support the Level 1 milestones, and which should be monitored to guarantee the completion of the Level 1 milestones.
